 ASUU Strikes Return to Nigerian State Universities Over Salary Disputes The Resurgence of Academic Disruptions in State-Owned Institutions While federal universities in Nigeria enjoy a period of relative stability, a familiar shadow is falling over state-owned tertiary institutions. Academic activities are grinding to a halt across several states, from Lagos to Ondo, as branches of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) reactivate strike actions. This resurgence of labor disputes threatens to disrupt the academic calendar once again, highlighting the stark divide between federal compliance and state-level hesitation. The Federal Agreement and State Discrepancies The root of the current wave of industrial action lies in the implementation of the Federal Government-ASUU agreement.
