 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.                      A speech delivered yesterday 11th of October 2016,by Charge d' Affaires David Young at the US Embassy Abuja,to Mark the International day for the Girl Child.In one paragraph from David's speech,he said ''When we think of the future of Nigeria,this is especially important.Think for a moment,Nigeria's population is growing rapidly.Currently there are roughly 180 million people in the country.By 2050 the number of people is expected to grow to roughly double,to some 350 million people.Half of these are female.What are we doing to make a better future for girls who we want to grow up to be the women of Nigeria tomorrow?.Then in another paragraph he said ''We need to help girls across this country,from all walks of life,not only in crisis.They need the opportunity to grow up safe and healthy,free from violence and abuse.They need the chance to be educated,to make decisions for themselves about their destinies,what they want to do in life,who they want to love,how they will live,and what they will believe''.More photos below.
