NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. A speech delivered yesterday 11th of October 2016,by Charge d' Affaires David Young at the US Embassy Abuja,to Mark the International day for the Girl Child.In one paragraph from David's speech,he said ''When we think of the future of Nigeria,this is especially important.Think for a moment,Nigeria's population is growing rapidly.Currently there are roughly 180 million people in the country.By 2050 the number of people is expected to grow to roughly double,to some 350 million people.Half of these are female.What are we doing to make a better future for girls who we want to grow up to be the women of Nigeria tomorrow?.Then in another paragraph he said ''We need to help girls across this country,from all walks of life,not only in crisis.They need the opportunity to grow up safe and healthy,free from violence and abuse.They need the chance to be educated,to make decisions for themselves about their destinies,what they want to do in life,who they want to love,how they will live,and what they will believe''.More photos below.
