2027: BENUE GOVT TELLS APPOINTEES, DECLARE NOW OR STEP ASIDE 17th December, 2025 The Benue State Government has directed all political appointees seeking to contest elective offices to formally declare their intentions and tender their resignation letters. In a statement issued from the Office of the Deputy Governor, the directive follows the surge in political activities and growing expressions of interest in elective positions across the state. According to the notice, affected appointees are required to submit written expressions of interest for their preferred offices, alongside formal resignation letters, to the Office of the Deputy Governor on or before Thursday, December 18, 2025. The submissions will be transmitted to Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia for further consideration and necessary action. HMIC,Alhaji Lai Mohammed,Minister of Transportation,Representative of Minister of Works,Minister of State Aviation,Inspector General of Police,are currently addressing a Press Conference to formally announce the closure of the Abuja International Airport.Minister of Aviation said ''The Abuja Airport closure will be 6 weeks and only 6 weeks n more.Government is still talking with Turkish and Lufthansa airlines to confirm if they are coming into Kaduna.Foreign airlines like Ethiopian airlines have not only indicated interest in using the Kaduna airport but also coming with a new plane.We are having every 2.5kil covered by armed men''.The Inspector General of Police said ''Due to the emergency of this Abuja airport closure,we want to assure Nigerians and foreigners of adequate security measures.We have deployed patrol vehicles along Kaduna-Abuja express road.We have also deployed helicopters for surveillance to ensure effective security''.One more photo below.
