STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE ENGINEERS FAROUK AHMED, GBENGA KOMOLAFE RESIGN, PRESIDENT TINUBU NOMINATES SUCCESSORS TO THE SENATE FOR APPROVAL President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve the nominations of two new chief executives for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). The requests followed the resignation of Engineer Farouk Ahmed of the NMDPRA and Gbenga Komolafe of the NUPRC. Both officials were appointed in 2021 by former President Buhari to lead the two regulatory agencies created by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA). To fill these positions, President Tinubu has written to the Senate, requesting expedited confirmation of Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as CEO of NUPRC and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as CEO of NMDPRA. The book ''Americanah'' by Nigerian famous writer Chimanmanda Ngozi-Adichie just won the ''One Book,One New York''campaign by the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment and BuzzFeed.The office said today monday that New Yorkers cast their ballots for the book throughout February and said they wanted millions of residents to read it.It stated that the voting which took place in February,were both online and at Interactive digital kiossks on subway platforms.The office added that ''finally,Americanah was the book most New Yorkers wanted to read,as 50,000 voters who participated in the #OneBookNY campaign voted for it''.It explained that New Yorkers were encouraged to form their own book clubs and discussions around the book,which detailed the story of a Nigerian couple that left military-rule Nigeria.The office said Americanah centred around two young Nigerian lovers who departed for different cities in the Western wworld and later reunited in a democratic Nigeria.Congratulation to her.
