 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. Image result for ambode             The Lagos State Governor,Mr Akinwunmi Ambode has approved the appointment of Mr Oladeji Williams as the new General Manager,Lagos State Infrastructure Asset Management Agency {LASIAMA} as part of efforts to revamp and rejuvenate public infrastructure management and maintenance in the State.Until his recent appointment,Mr Oladeji Williams was the Special Assistant to the Governor on Energy and a team member of the Policy Development,Conceptualization,Coordination,and Implementation of the Light up Lagos Initiative.Mr Oladeji is a well-rounded professional and skilled administrator with cognate working experience spanning over fifteen {15} years spent working as a project manager in the United States of America and in Nigeria; he worked at management level within the Lagos State Government and also served as a consultant to various State governments in Nigeria.He is a graduate of Franklin University,United States of America with a Bachelor's Degree in International Business and Global Issues.He also holds professional Certificates in Project Management and International Facility Management.The Lagos State Infrastructure Asset Management Agency {formerly Office of the Facility Management and Maintenance {OFMM} is charged with the tasks of ensuring proper management and maintenance of all Lagos State assets and infrastructure.
