ANAMBRA POLICE COMMAND RECEIVES AND AUGMENTS IGP’S MONITORING UNIT OPERATIVES ON ENFORCEMENT OF POLICE PERSONNEL WITHDRAWAL FROM VIP ESCORT DUTIES IN THE STATE The Anambra State Police Command today 8th December 2025 formally received operatives of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP)’s Monitoring Unit deployed to the state to ensure full implementation of the IGP’s directive on the withdrawal of police personnel from VIP escort and guard duties. The Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc mnips PhD reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to supporting the IGP’s reform efforts targeted at enhancing professionalism, discipline, and optimal deployment of police manpower nationwide. The CP noted that the withdrawal of these officers will help to strengthen public policing, improve response capacity, and ensure that more personnel are available for core policing duties across the state. UNICEF says it has disbursed N53 million to 209 School Based Management Committees {SBMCs} for the improvement of girl-child education in Zamfara stare in northwest Nigeria.The Chief of UNICEF Sokoto field office,Mr Mohammed Mohiuddin,said the fund was part of an intervention on Girl Education Project Phase 3 {GEP 3} by the UKID/DFID and managed by the UNICEF.The project,he said,was designed to be implemented over eight years,from 2012 to 2020,during which one million additional girls were expected to be enrolled and retained in schools in the five states under the scheme.The field officer said, ''an estimated 1.9 million boys would also benefit from the investment through improvements in teacher quality and school governance.An estimated 155,580 girls were expected to be added to the number of girls in school by the time the project rounds off in 2020''.Mohiuddin said each of the schools management committees would receive N250,000 directly into its account for the improvement of the schools to enrolment,retention and improved learning.
