 U.S imposes sanctions on former Congo President Joseph Kabila The United States on Thursday imposed sanctions on former Democratic Republic of Congo President Joseph Kabila for his support of ‌Rwanda-backed M23 rebels and for fueling political instability in Congo's troubled east. The U.S. Treasury Department said M23 and its political-military arm, the Congo River Alliance (AFC), had been stoking violent conflict in eastern DRC, resulting in the deaths of thousands of civilians and a mass displacement crisis. Treasury said Kabila had provided financial support to the ​AFC in order to influence the political situation in eastern DRC, while encouraging DRC troops to defect and join AFC forces. ​It said Kabila was working to regain influence over the government by backing a candidate opposed to the current ⁠leader. FAYOSE DISTRIBUTED GARMENT MAKING & SNACKS PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT TO SOME SECONDARY SCHOOLS.

     The Ekiti State Governor, Chief Ayodele Fayose has distributed garment making and snacks production equipment worth millions of Naira to some selected secondary schools in order to make the students self reliant in the future.
The event which was held at Olaoluwa Muslim Grammer School Ado Ekiti had in attendance stakeholders in the education sector.
Governor Fayose, represented by his deputy, Prof Kolapo Olusola, in his key note address, said that the essence of the school enterprise programme was to allow the students become job creators rather than job seekers after leaving school.
He noted that the programme when established in all the secondary schools, Ekiti students would be an asset rather than liability in the labour market.
Governor Fayose advised the students to take the practical aspect of their training seriously.
He called on the teachers to ensure the safety and maintenace of the equipment.
On his part, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Jide Egunjobi explained that functional education had become the order of the day all over the world.
Also, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mrs Kumbi Obaisi lauded the state government's idea of making Ekiti students self reliant through acquisition of special skills.
The high point of the occasion was the distribution of the equipment to the benefiting schools.
Some of the benefiting schools included Aramoko District Grammer School, Aramoko Ekiti., Eleyo High School, Ikere Ekiti, Ogotun High School, Ogotun Ekiti, Ara Comprehensive High School, Ara Ekiti. Others are Edu Comprehensive High School Erio Ekiti, Babatope Memorial High School, Ikoro Ekiti, Omuo Comprehensive High School Omuo Ekiti, Ayede Grammer School, Ayede Ekiti. Igogo Community High School Igogo Ekiti and others.So far, thirty seven Secondary Schools have benefited from the distribution of garment making and snacks production equipment under the School Agric and Entrepreneurship Agency.
