 Terrorists, banditry activities in Northwest have reduced – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has disclosed a decrease in the activities of terrorists and bandits in the Northwest. Sani said the recent killings of some top terrorists’ leaders could have been responsible for the decrease. Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “In the last few weeks, there is a noticeable decrease in terrorist and banditry attacks and kidnappings in the North Western parts of this country. “The elimination of some of the top terrorist leaders must have been responsible.This is commendable and should be sustained.” In the past weeks, notable bandit leaders have been killed in the North. Those eliminated include- Haliru Kachalla Sububu or Buzu, Kachalla Tukur Sharme (killed by rival gang), Sani Black, another prominent bandit leader, killed along with his brother and two children, Kachalla Makore, Kachalla Mai Shayi Kachalla Tsoho Lulu and Mai’Yar Gitta.       The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission today, December 12, 2017 secured the conviction of one Joshua Dan-Daura, a Deputy Suprintendent in the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps who was arraigned by the Commission for job scam before honourable Justice Dije Abdu Aboki of the Kano State High Court.
The convict was arraigned by the Commission on December 22, 2016 for allegedly defrauding the complainant the sum of N450,000 (Four Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira Only) under the pretext of securing job for him.Upon arraignment, the convict pleaded not guilty which compelled the prosecution counsel Musa Isah to proceed into trial that lasted one year.In her judgment today, Justice Aboki found the accused person guilty to the one count he was charged with and convicted him as prayed by the prosecution counsel. After listening to the alocutos from the defence counsel, Amos Ango for mercy on behalf of the convict, Justice Aboki subsequently sentenced the convict to 9 months imprisonment with option of N100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Naira Only) fine.The convict was also ordered to restitute the sum of N370,000 to the complainant or spend 18 additional month in prison if he defaulted.
