 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

     Today, 11th July 2018: Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai flanked by the Deputy Governor, Arch. Bala Bantex and other members of the State executive council commissioned and Hand Over Vehicles and Supplies to Ten Local Governments, (Birnin Gwari, Ikara, Kaura, Kauru, Kaduna South, Makarfi, Kagarko, Sanga, Sabon Gari and Zaria) to mark the third phase of the Sanitation Hygiene and Water in Nigeria (SHAWN II) Project.
The SHAWN II Project is a UNICEF/DFID Supported Program aimed atImproving Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Particularly in our Rural Schools, Communities and Public Places. UNICEF/DFID rated Kaduna State the best amongst Participating States in Nigeria in the Last SHAWN II Review Meeting Conducted in August, 2016.
The project is funded by UNICEF, UK DFIS and the Kaduna State Government. It was launched in Kaduna state in 2014 with Kubau, Chikun and Kachia local government councils piloting the project. UNICEF/DFID realized the need to expand the project to include more communities. In 2016, the project was extended to cover 11 more local governments; Lere, Soba, Jaba, Jema’a, Kajuru, Zangon Kataf, Giwa and Kudan local government areas.
In his Remarks, Governor Elrufai stated that the SHAWN II Project is another demonstration of the intense institutional interest in improving sanitation in our communities. The Kaduna State Government is committed to the goals of the Sanitation, Hygiene and Water in Nigeria (SHAWN) project as it enhances living standards and health outcomes for our people. And we continue to receive the kind support of our development partners in delivering on these goals.
In his goodwill message, the UNICEF Nigeria Chief of Field Office in Kaduna, Dr. Zakari Adam commemded the Kaduna State Government for its efforts and commitment to develop Local Government Areas in the State.SHWAN II project aims at improving access to sanitation, hygiene and water supply to all citizens through eradication of open defecation, hand washing promotion, sanitation and provision of water facility. The project presents Nigeria the opportunity towards realizing her goal of an Open Defecation Free Nigeria by 2025.More photos below.
