 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

JOS CRISIS: BENUE TO EVACUATE STUDENTS FROM UNIJOS.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

     Governor Samuel Ortom has ordered for the evacuation of the Benue State indigenes studying at the University of Jos, Plateau state due to the ongoing mayhem in the city of Jos.
The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Dennis A. Ityavyar disclosed this today during a chat with newsmen in his office in Makurdi.
The Commissioner revealed that the Benue State Government was keenly following development in the city of Jos, and has also contacted the Vice-Chancellor of the School, Prof. Sebastian Seddi Maimako on the security situation in Jos and the readiness of the Benue State Government to evacuate students from Benue State studying in the school.
" Arrangement to evacuate the students have been concluded, and the state was only waiting to hear from the management of the school which is studying the security situation in Jos, with a view of closing down the school should the security situation not improve by the end of today."We shall go in immediately as a proactive measure to save the students from falling victim to the violence in Jos", he said.
The Education Commissioner reiterated the commitment of the Ortom administration to the security of Benue indigenes irrespective of where they reside.
Reacting to the development, the President of the National Union of Benue State Students, NUBESS, UNIJOS chapter, Comr. Kenneth Umajor who spoke on phone commended the Benue State Government for the decision to evacuate the students.
He confirmed the efforts by the Benue State Government to evacuate the students, and said it was a relieve to the students who have been living in fear since the outbreak of the violence in Jos.
According to reports, the violence in Jos has so far claimed the life of a 200 -level student in the Faculty of Law, injured two, and another missing.
Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State on Monday night held a meeting with heads of security agencies in the state to review the prevailing security situation within Jos .
