 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. ANTI-CORRUPTION DAY: CORRUPTION MUST NOT KILL NIGERIA-EFCC.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

       Ibrahim Magu, acting Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has called on Nigerians to ensure that they get rid of vote-buying and remain circumspect as the 2019 elections approach.
"We need to enjoy the dividends of democracy through credible elections and I hereby urge all Nigerians not to succumb to any political pressure, but to say ‘no’ to vote-buying,” Magu said. He also urged Nigerians not to allow corruption to kill Nigeria
He gave the charge at the Anti-Corruption Walk/Marathon, which held on December 10, 2018 at the Eagle Square, Abuja, organized by the EFCC, as part of activities marking the 2018 United Nation’s Anti-Corruption Day celebration, themed, “Say No To Corruption”.
Speaking at the event, which also had as participants, youths from all over Africa who had converged on Abuja to hold the inaugural African Youth Congress Against Corruption the Africa, 2018 AYCAC Summit, Magu stressed the importance of youth participation in the fight against corruption.
Head, Port Harcourt Office, Mr. Nnaghe Obono Itam charged Nigerians from all walks of life to rise up more decisively to the task of fighting corrupt practices and save Nigeria their harmful effects.
“We must not be passive in lending our voices and strength to the fight against corruption. Our development and progress are directly linked to what we do with this fight. Those who are indisposed to the fight are strengthening the monster of corruption. We must resist such people. Politicians must no longer be allowed to fan the embers of ethnicity and religion to manipulate the people. We must not allow corruption to kill Nigeria”, he said.More photos below.
