 Terrorists, banditry activities in Northwest have reduced – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has disclosed a decrease in the activities of terrorists and bandits in the Northwest. Sani said the recent killings of some top terrorists’ leaders could have been responsible for the decrease. Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “In the last few weeks, there is a noticeable decrease in terrorist and banditry attacks and kidnappings in the North Western parts of this country. “The elimination of some of the top terrorist leaders must have been responsible.This is commendable and should be sustained.” In the past weeks, notable bandit leaders have been killed in the North. Those eliminated include- Haliru Kachalla Sububu or Buzu, Kachalla Tukur Sharme (killed by rival gang), Sani Black, another prominent bandit leader, killed along with his brother and two children, Kachalla Makore, Kachalla Mai Shayi Kachalla Tsoho Lulu and Mai’Yar Gitta. Image result for inec        The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) will, on Wednesday, April 17, embark on the verification of documents submitted by candidates of political parties contesting for the vacant councillorship seat in Ward A (Obele/ Oniwala) in Surulere Local Government Area of the State.
A statement issued today by LASIEC requested candidates of political parties contesting for the by-election to present original copies of all documents earlier submitted to the Commission alongside their forms for screening, noting that the list of validated candidates will be posted on the Notice Board of the Commission on Thursday, April 18.
It stated further that the register of eligible voters for the election is already on display at the Collation Centre of the Ward located in Obele Odan Primary School, Surulere, urging registered voters to visit the centre to verify their details as contained in the register.
According to the statement, “The Councillorship by-election which will be held in the affected Ward on Saturday, April 27, 2019, is consequent upon the death of the Councillor representing the Ward, Mr. Razak Bello, which occurred a few months ago”.
The statement reiterated the Chairman of the Commission, Hon. Justice Ayotunde Phillips' appeal to residents of the affected ward to be peaceful in their conduct and actively participate in the electoral process by casting a vote for any candidate of their choice.
