 South Africa says US misrepresented its policies after visa curbs South Africa's foreign ministry said on Wednesday that it ‌had noted with concern U.S. visa restrictions on some people from South Africa announced by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio a day earlier. The foreign ministry added in a statement that ⁠the U.S. announcement aligned with "the mischaracterisation of South Africa's domestic policies by fringe groups". "We maintain that challenges in our bilateral relations with the USA can only be resolved by constructive engagement through state actors on both sides of the diplomatic channel not unilateral acts," the statement said, Reuters reported. Trump has repeatedly criticized ‌South ⁠Africa since the start of his second term for what he falsely claims is the racial persecution of its white minority, citing affirmative action laws aimed at ⁠addressing the inequality that has persisted since apartheid.     President Muhammadu Buhari sends warm greetings to Lady Maiden Alex Ibru, Chairman, Publisher and Chief Executive Officer of Guardian Newspapers, as she turns 70, congratulating her for a life of giving and coaching, which has attracted recognitions and awards at home and abroad.
President Buhari joins the Ibru family, friends and associates of the Chairman of Guardian newspapers to rejoice on the milestone, while extolling her for providing strong leadership for the newspaper and other companies, and still creating time for the Trinity Foundation, founded by her late husband, Dr Alex Ibru.
As Lady Ibru turns 70, the President believes her outstanding contributions to the lives of many, especially the girl-child and underprivileged families, deserves spotlighting and commendation, affirming that by investing in education of others and encouraging many to return to school, she has touched generations.
The President prays that the Almighty God will grant Lady Ibru more years of good health, strength and wisdom.
