 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. NEW COMPUTER VILLAGE: LASG MEETS STAKEHOLDERS,PLANS CONSTRUCTION OF ROAD NETWORK.#PRESS RELEASE.

     The Lagos State government has met with stakeholders to discuss the planned relocation of the Computer Village from Ikeja to Katangowa in Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA to get their commitment to the project, particularly to facilitate the construction of a network of roads around the new location.
The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako, in his welcome address said the relocation process began with the exchange of vital information with stakeholders to engender the successful commencement of the landscape transforming project at the new location.
Salako affirmed that by approving the infrastructure upgrade for the host community that will accommodate the project, the present administration has displayed its commitment to providing modern infrastructure to enhance the business of computer village traders as well as residents and other stakeholders of Agbado Oke-Odo Community.
“I am happy to note that this is a landmark event which in no small measure accentuates our commitment to achieving an orderly, sustainable mega city that is friendly to business and tourism as articulated in the THEMES Agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo- Olu”, he said.
The Commissioner, however, hinted the stakeholders that agents of government will visit the location for necessary assessments of property that will be affected, serve notices and carry out other responsibilities relevant to the project, urging residents to “Please accord them the necessary support while relevant institutions of government will work out appropriate compensation to owners of property that will be affected”.
Dr. Salako enjoined all the stakeholders to support the government's drive for development of the axis by giving maximum cooperation and conceding to the right of way to facilitate successful completion of the project.
Representatives of the community expressed appreciation to Lagos State Government for initiating the project, envisaging that speedy completion of the project will ease the burden of all road users and stakeholders along the route.
The three roads earmarked for reconstruction and upgrade include Ahmed Mohammed Road, Ogunyemi Damisa and Abubakar Streets.
