 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

     The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola is set to deliver the keynote speech at the 2020 edition of the "Trek Africa Real Estate Summit & Expo" organized by Real Estate Reporters. Also to deliver speeches at the industry conference is Lagos state Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu and the Nigerian Institute of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) Lagos Chairman, ESV Adedotun Bamgbola.
The Summit which is set against the backdrop of the need to maximize the country’s material and human resources to meet the burgeoning housing needs of the Nigerian citizenry across the length and breadth of the nation will hold at the prestigious Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos on Friday, 20th March, 2020.
Speaking with newsmen, the Project Director of the summit, Oki Samson said: ‘The theme of the summit is ‘Make Nigeria Livable: Building Safe and Secure Homes’. And it seeks to provide a viable investment platform for big time investors at home, Nigerians in the Diaspora, and foreign direct investors to make inroads into the burgeoning real estate market. It will also probe into how newest trends in technology can be deployed into facilitating effective land acquisition system, material analysis, structural testing procedures, and other technical processes in the industry.’
TARESExpo2020 will engage key industry players, policy makers, investment bankers, and professional institutions to create impact in the vast Nigerian housing and real estate industry. The One day conference will also feature products and services exhibition.
Also billed to discuss at panel sessions in the summit are the Lagos Commissioner of Housing, Moruf Akinderu-Fatai; Ogun Commissioner of Housing, Jamiu Omoniyi, the Commissioner of Works and Transport in Kwara state, Suleiman Rotimi Iliasu, Uzo Oshogwe, Managing Director of Afriland Properties Plc, Barr.
