 SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS PRESIDENT'S POWER TO DECLARE EMERGENCY RULE The  supreme court has affirmed the president's constitutional authority to declare a state of emergency in a state threatened by breakdown of law and order, including the power to temporarily suspend elected officials as an extraordinary measure to restore stability. The seven-man panel of justices of the apex court gave the order in a 6 to 1 split decision on a suit filed by Adamawa state and 10 others challenging president Bola Tinubu's march 18, 2025 declaration of emergency rule in Rivers state.  The declaration had led to the six-month suspension of the state's governor, deputy governor, and members of the house of assembly amid prolonged political crisis and security concerns. PIPELINE EXPLOSION ROCKED ABULE ADO TODAY CRASHING MANY HOUSES.{PHOTOS}.

        A suspected pipeline explosion rocked Abule Ado close to Festac area of Lagos State on Sunday morning, leaving many houses and vehicles destroyed.
it was learnt that the explosion brought down the roofs of buildings causing panic which resulted to residents scampering to safety.
The number of casualties and damaged properties could not be ascertained as at press time as as men of the federal fire service had mobilised to the scene.According to another source '' A big pipeline explosion that shook several houses rocked Abule Ado area of Ojo, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria on Sunday morning.
Thick smokes and balls of fire enveloped the atmosphere as panic struck residents who scampered to safety.
The explosion reverberated and shook houses several miles away.
Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA’s spokesman, Nosa Okunbor said the explosion might be from the pipeline.
“LASEMA Team Heading to Abule Ado, Trade Fair axis for investigation of alleged pipeline explosion. Awaiting details and preliminary reports,” he said''.More photos below.
