The Cosmopolitan Women’s Club of Lagos has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) as part of the Club’s contribution to the ongoing battle to contain the spread of Coronavirus pandemic in the State.
The Chief Medical Director, LASUTH, Prof. Adetokunbo O. Fabamwo, while receiving the donated items on behalf of the Hospital, thanked the Association for recognising the importance of having health workers who are properly protected against the Coronavirus disease.
He said the thoughtful gesture of the Club will ensure that all health providers at the facility are adequately protected while carrying out their sacred role of caring for the sick, stressing that despite the provision by the State Government, PPE for frontline workers is hardly enough.
“We deeply appreciate the efforts of Corporate Bodies, Non-Profit Organisations, Groups and Individuals who are daily supporting the Government’s efforts in the provision of protective gears for our health providers. I hope other well-meaning Nigerians will come forward to support us as well”, Fabamwo stated.
Earlier in her remarks, Mrs. Adeorike Durosimi-Etti, President of the Cosmopolitan Women’s Club, stated that the members of Club are very concerned about the ravaging pandemic and the need for everyone to support health institutions in the battle against the spread of the disease.
She added that the gesture was also in line with one of the objectives of the Club, which is to render necessary support to genuine human endeavour in the Society.
Similarly, two kind-hearted Nigerians, Mrs. Renua Adeboye and Mr. Tega Feludu, the Managing Director, Pest Control Nigeria Limited have also donated Face Shields and Waste Solidifiers respectively to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital in support of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.More photos below.
