 NSCDC Deploys 4,000 Personnel in FCT for Yuletide Security The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) FCT Command has assured residents of robust security throughout the Christmas and New Year festivities. Commandant Olusola Odumosu announced that 4,000 personnel have been deployed across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and its surrounding areas to ensure public safety and protect Critical National Assets and Infrastructure. The personnel, drawn from various specialized units including the Special Intervention Squad, Counter Terrorism Unit, Arm Squad, Agro Rangers, and others, will work to maintain peace and order during the festive season. In a statement issued on Thursday, signed by command spokesperson Monica Ojobi, Odumosu called for strict adherence to the operation order and emphasized the importance of securing key locations such as infrastructure, worship centers, markets, and recreational areas.     President Buhari approves Dr. Isa Pantami’s recommendation for the reappointment of Professor Danbatta as ‪the Executive Vice Chairman‬ of Nigerian Communications Commission.

 PRESS RELEASE:

In an effort to consolidate the gains made in the telecommunications sector,in line with the National Digital Economy Policy and strategy,President Muhammadu Buhari approved the reappointment of Professor Umar Garba Danbatta as the Executive Vice Chairman,Nigeria n Communications Commission.
Professor Danbatta's reappointment was based on the recommendation of the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy,Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim {Pantami},FNCS,FBCS,FILM, in line with the Nigerian Communication Act,2003.
While wishing Professor Danbatta the best,the Honourable Minister directed him to significantly improve on the overall performance of the Commission as well as ensure that adequate mechanisms are put in place to facilitate the implementation of all policies of Federal Government through the Ministry.Furthermore,the Honourable Minister enjoined him to ensure that the interest of telecommunication consumers,Nigerians and investors are adequately protected.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
