 Terrorists, banditry activities in Northwest have reduced – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has disclosed a decrease in the activities of terrorists and bandits in the Northwest. Sani said the recent killings of some top terrorists’ leaders could have been responsible for the decrease. Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “In the last few weeks, there is a noticeable decrease in terrorist and banditry attacks and kidnappings in the North Western parts of this country. “The elimination of some of the top terrorist leaders must have been responsible.This is commendable and should be sustained.” In the past weeks, notable bandit leaders have been killed in the North. Those eliminated include- Haliru Kachalla Sububu or Buzu, Kachalla Tukur Sharme (killed by rival gang), Sani Black, another prominent bandit leader, killed along with his brother and two children, Kachalla Makore, Kachalla Mai Shayi Kachalla Tsoho Lulu and Mai’Yar Gitta. INEC Resumes New Phase Of Continuous Voter Registration In Anambra State



The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has approved the resumption of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Anambra State beginning from Tuesday, January 25, 2022.

The Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Nkwachukwu Orji, who made the announcement while addressing the media in Awka, said that the resumption of the exercise which was temporarily suspended prior to the Anambra governorship poll in November, 2021, would offer eligible but unregistered voters to get registered.

He said that the exercise would also help already registered voters to transfer and/or update their registration, adding that voters would also collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) during the period.

Outlining the modalities for the exercise, Dr Orji said that the registration, which could be done online or in-person, would take place at the State and local government area offices of the Commission in Anambra State, between the hours of 9:00am to 3:00pm daily, excluding weekends and public holidays.

He further warned against registration by proxy, or multiple registration, noting that while all registration must be done in public space and observed by accredited observers, registration is prerequisite for voting in elections.

Dr Orji also announced that the Commission is at the verge of completing election reverse logistics for the November 2021 governorship poll in Anambra State, with sustain progress in the renumeration of adhoc staff that worked during the election.

He however noted that the Commission has suspended the allowances of adhoc staff who failed to return the devices and other materials issued 9them during the election pending their compliance.

The Anambra INEC boss urged the public, and particularly, those that serve as adhoc staff to see the Commission's property as national asset, and therefore treat them with due care and responsibility.
