 M23 says hundreds of Burundi soldiers captured in latest Congo offensive The Rwanda-backed M23 group has captured hundreds of Burundian soldiers during its latest offensive in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a rebel official said, as clashes continued despite a warning from the Trump administration. Last week M23 entered the strategic town of Uvira near the border with Burundi, less than a week after the presidents of Congo and Rwanda met in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and affirmed their commitment to a peace deal known as the Washington Accords. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Rwanda's actions in eastern Congo violated the Washington Accords and vowed to "take action to ensure promises made to the President are kept". Rwanda denies supporting M23 and has blamed Congolese and Burundian forces for the renewed fighting. Former Bauchi Deputy Director of Lands Jailed for Land Scam

Justice Abubarka Muazu of Bauchi State High Court, on February 21, 2022 convicted and sentenced a former Deputy Director of Planning in Bauchi State Ministry of Land and Survey, Ibrahim Aliyu to twenty seven months imprisonment for obtaining money by false pretences and cheating. He was convicted following a two- count charge brought against him by the Gombe Zonal Command of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. 

Aliyu sometime in May 2015 dishonestly induced one Mustapha Bala to deliver to him the sum of One Million, One Hundred Thousand Naira (N1, 100,000) for sale of a plot of land situated at BSADP Quarters, Bauchi which belonged to His Royal Highness, Usman Bilyaminu Usman, the Emir of Dass, without his consent.

He pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced accordingly to three months with option of N50,000.00. (Fifty Thousand Naira only) fine on count one and two years imprisonment with option of N100,000 fine (One Hundred Thousand Naira) only fine on count two.
