 Kebbi Govt Donates 10 Hilux Vehicles to Boost Security on Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway  The Kebbi State Government has handed over 10 brand-new Hilux vehicles to the Federal Ministry of Works to strengthen security for personnel working on the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway project. The vehicles were formally received by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, who praised Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasiru Idris (Kauran Gwandu), for the donation. Goronyo described the gesture as a clear demonstration of the state government’s commitment to protecting workers and contractors on the strategic highway corridor. He explained that the vehicles will be deployed exclusively to security operatives providing cover for construction teams along the section of the super highway passing through Kebbi State. Enugwu-Ukwu Community Flags Off Farming Season, Holds Exhibition



Enugwu-Ukwu Community, in Njikoka Local Government Area, has kicked off its 2022 farming season with exhibition of farm inputs.

The event, held at Obu Umunri Enugwu-Ukwu, has become an annual affair that looks at the year gone-by and prepares people of the community for the year's agricultural engagements.

The exhibition arena looked more like a harvest field, as farm produce including yam, cocoyam, vegetables, plantain, cassava stick, among numerous others caught the eyes.

The traditional ruler of Enugwu-Ukwu, Igwe Ralph Ekpeh, joined by his Umuawulu counterpart, Igwe Joel Egwuonwu, members of his cabinet and other dignitaries, graced the occasion, which also aims at encouraging both the young and the old in Engwu-Ukwu to go into agriculture.

In his speech, Igwe Ekpeh said he is happy that Engwu-Ukwu is doing impressively in agriculture, stating that the community is blessed with fertile land that makes farming enjoyable.

Igwe Ekpeh also revealed the cultural significance of agriculture to Ndi Enugwu-Ukwu, noting that they are known farmers, who settled in different parts of Igbo land.

On his part, the deputy Traditional Prime Minister of the town, Chief Clem Nwafor explained the dietary functions of each of the exhibited crops as well as how each of them is cultivated and processed.

The chairman of Enugwu-Ukwu Agricultural Exhibition Commission, Chief Jasper Okonkwo as well as the cabinet secretary, Chief Frank Nwokike, remarked that Enugwu-Ukwu is a known ancient agrarian town and called for more intervention in the agric sector to generate revenue and create empowerment opportunities for youths.

Farmers from different villages of Enugwu-Ukwu including Mr Benard Asikason and Mrs Patricia Agu showcased their produce and commended the organizers while urging everyone to venture into agriculture.

Delegates from Anambra State Ministry of Agriculture also attended the event.
