  A manhunt is underway for man who shot a Granite City Police Officer multiple times. Officers in Granite City, Illinois, responded to a call regarding a unwanted subject near the 2000 block of Johnson Road at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, December 5th. Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with the suspect. The suspect opened fire on officers before fleeing the scene.  Unfortunately, one officer was struck multiple times. The officer was rushed to a St. Louis University Hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.  A massive manhunt is now underway to locate the suspect. Authorities warn the public that the man is considered armed and dangerous. UKRAINE ATTACKS: IGP ORDERS COORDINATED, ADEQUATE SECURITY FOR RETURNEES:

 The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, fdc, has ordered the deployment of Police operatives to ensure a coordinated security arrangement for Nigerian returnees from Ukraine. The  Police Unit was led by Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge, Disaster Management Unit (DMU), DCP Mary Obasi, fsi. The operation is being carried out in collaboration with officials of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and operatives of other security agencies. The operation which began on Thursday has received returnees from Bucharest, Romania and Warsaw, Poland.
