 STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE   ENGINEERS FAROUK AHMED, GBENGA KOMOLAFE RESIGN, PRESIDENT TINUBU NOMINATES SUCCESSORS TO THE SENATE FOR APPROVAL President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve the nominations of two new chief executives for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).   The requests followed the resignation of Engineer Farouk Ahmed of the NMDPRA and Gbenga Komolafe of the NUPRC. Both officials were appointed in 2021 by former President Buhari to lead the two regulatory agencies created by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).   To fill these positions, President Tinubu has written to the Senate, requesting expedited confirmation of Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as CEO of NUPRC and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as CEO of NMDPRA.   The two nominees are seasoned professionals in the oil and gas industry.   Eyesan, a graduate of Economics f...

FG Appoints 62 Ambassadors In Situ, Gives Them Letters Of Commission



62 ambassadors-in-situ have received letters of commission from the Federal government of Nigeria in recognition of their commitments to placing the country in the global space.

Ambassadors-in-situ are diplomatic officials of the highest rank often sent by one country as its long-term representative to another country in recognition of their selfless service to nation building as officers of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ambassadors-in-Situ, often move from one country to another at the expense of their children and families just to make Nigeria a great nation hence the recognition by the government. 

Presenting the letters at an investiture ceremony in Abuja, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, said the ambassadors had worked tirelessly to boost diplomatic relations in their respective countries of assignment, and hat recognizing their contribution is key to achieving success.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari’s led administration has proven its commitment to rewarding those who have worked diligently in positioning the country in a positive light just like the gesture has brought to light the gathering of Nigerians who have contributed immensely to building the nation’s diplomatic relations.

Minister Onyeama commended their service and dedication to duties, noting that the essence of the presentation is to rewrite the historic injustice that has been metted to them in the past years and assured them that their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Responding on behalf of the ambassadors, Adesola Adejumoke applauded the federal government for the recognition adding that it is a call for more commitment and pledged that they will be good ambassadors across the globe.

In an interview with the ABS, Ukpo born Chief Ifeanyi Omeokachie said the recognition will spur him to further selfless services for the country and cautioned youths to desist from get rich quick syndrome and embrace hard work as it pays better than cutting corners.
