 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. LASBCA DEMOLISHES SEVEN DISTRESSED BUILDINGS IN MUSHIN


No fewer than seven distressed buildings in the Mushin area of the State have been demolished by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) to avoid an imminent collapse that would have claimed several innocent lives and destroyed property worth millions of Naira.

The seven distressed buildings located at Abiodun Wright Street, Itire Road and Gbadamosi Iginla Street in Mushin were pulled down by officials of LASBCA as a proactive step to save residents. 

Speaking during the demolition of the distressed buildings on Thursday, the General Manager of LASBCA, Arc. Gbolahan Oki, lamented the level of disregard for vacation notices issued by the agency on different occasions to occupants of the buildings and others in different parts of the State.
