Strike: KASU Lecturers Shun Resumption Circular, Advise Students To Remain Home

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Kaduna State University (KASU) branch, on Tuesday, said they will not resume academic activities, until the Federal Government and the national body of the union meet and resolve all grievances amicably.

DAILY POST recalls that KASU management had last week issued a circular that the University would start full academic activities on 9th May, 2022.

However, in a statement issued jointly by the ASUU chairman and the Assistant Secretary, Kaduna State University branch, Dr Peter Adamu, and Dr Akos Ibrahim, respectively, the union dissociated itself from the purported circular released by the University authority.

According to the statement, the attention of the union was drawn to a purported circular trending on social media platforms stating that KASU management had pulled out of the current roll-over strike declared by ASUU.

The statement described the circular as a ploy to misinform the public, parents and guardians, and to blackmail the union.

According to the statement, it is important to note that the management of the university was not the mouthpiece of the Union and cannot speak on behalf of the union.

The statement warned parents and students and guardians not to allow their children to resume for now until the current roll-over strike was suspended.

It said listening and obeying the KASU management’s directive was purely a violation of the position of the union in the current struggle.
