 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. WORLD CULTURAL DAY 2022- CULTURE, NATIONAL UNITY AND SECURITY    


The World Cultural Day is celebrated on the 21st of May every year. This day celebrates not only the richness of world cultures, but also the essential role of intercultural dialogue for achieving peace and sustainable development.

The United Nations General Assembly first declared this World Day in 2002, following UNESCO’s adoption of the 2001 universal declaration on cultural diversity, recognizing the need to enhance the potentials of culture as a means of achieving prosperity, sustainable development and global peaceful coexistence.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, Dr. Ifeoma Anyanwutaku, in celebration of the World Cultural Day, has said that culture is an instrument for peace, unity, development and economic growth. She made this statement in Abuja on Wednesday, 25th May, 2022, at the Sensitization and Awareness Road Walk organized by the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture in collaboration with the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural (UNESCO) Office, Chinese Cultural Centre, Indian High Commission and the Ministry’s agencies, as part of activities to mark the 2022 World Cultural Day.

The Permanent Secretary stated that ‘’the composition of activities, cultural festivals, dances, drama and attires are veritable instruments used in depicting the culture of the country, adding that the youth should imbibe and also invest in our culture, so as to stay focused and not be used as tools to perpetuate evil in the society.’’

She appreciated everyone for coming for the sensitization and awareness road walk which she officially flagged-off with the cutting of the ribbon. She was joined by Staff of the Ministry and other stakeholders on the road walk from the Federal Secretariat to Radio House Herbert Macaulay way, Abuja.

Highlights of the event were performances by the cultural groups from Bida, Niger State,Ekiti State Cultural Troupe, FCT Mushin Team Promoting Chinese Culture, Gwape International Traditional Dancers from Minna Niger State amongst others.
