 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. Anambra State Government (ASG), Sets to Charge Sexual Offenders to Court After Rescuing Three Victims of Rape in Awka.

Anambra State Women and Social Welfare Commissioner, Mrs Ify Obinabo has reiterated the state government's commitment towards ending rape in the state.

This she stated in her office in Awka after intervening in cases of involving two victims of rape and child defilement.

The victims who are 8 years, 14 years and 15 years of age were sexually taken advantage of at Ifitedunu, Agulu and Ozubulu respectively.

Mrs Obinabo bemoaned such dastardly act and stated that the government of Prof Chukwuma Soludo is out to prosecute sexual offenders found guilty of rape and child defilement charges.

She therefore warned that parents, guardians and everyone should put all hands on deck to achieve a liveable and prosperous Anambra where women and children will be secured.

The women and social welfare boss after listening to the stories of the victims whom she had rescued encouraged everyone to be vigilant and always report such incidents to women and social welfare ministry for immediate attention.

The 8 year victim a native of Ifitedunu is reportedly said to have been sexual abused by one Mr Victor Gbajie who is her guardian. The 8 year old who was brought by her grandmother Christiana Akpu amid tears is currently receiving treatment at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching hospital Amaku Awka, following some complications as a result of the incident which is said to have affected her kidney. 

Meanwhile the 14 year old girl from Abia state, resident at Nneogidi village Agulu was brutally raped when she went to make sales for her mother. 

According to the unsuspecting 14 year old, her perpetuator who also stays in the neighborhood requested for akara but she was shocked at how things turned out when she went to deliver the akara. 

While in tears recalled that despite her cry for help, no one was able to come to her aid because of the noise of the generator in her perpetuators compound.

Same was the story of the 15 year old girl from Ozubulu who was allegedly raped by one Mr Oluchukwu Obi, who is in his forties. The culprit is said to be a tenant in Ngozi Nwanya's compound in Ozubulu. Mr Obi forcefully had carnal knowledge of the girl when she went to deliver the indomie he ordered for. Though currently in police custody, the women and social welfare boss has mandated that the cases be charged to the children and special offenses court in Awka for immediate hearing.
