 LASG HOSTS Y2024 WOMEN'S ASSEMBLY TO EMPOWER, CELEBRATE WOMEN Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to advancing and empowering women, describing them as the pillars of communities, contributing in numerous ways as mothers, entrepreneurs, educators and leaders.  Governor Sanwo-Olu stated this in his keynote address at the 2024 Women's Assembly for Local Government and Local Council Development Areas organised by the Ministry of Women's Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) at the De Blue Roof, LTV 8 complex, Agindigbi Ikeja.  The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Governor, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, described the Assembly as a critical platform for celebrating women’s contributions and tackling challenges affecting their well-being. India Reiterates Commitment To Partnering Nigeria For Better Life



The High Commission of India in Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to strengthening business and economic relations with Nigeria. 

The High Commissioner of India, Gangadrine Balasubramanian, who made tha promise at the independence celebration of India in Abuja , said, the India /Nigeria relationship started many years back with the establishment of its office in Lagos.

This relationship according to the India High Commissioner, has remained strong, and developed into multifaceted ways almost in all places including human capitial development hence they as a country, are happy with the assistance and cooperation of successive governments in Nigeria.

He said trade and economic relations between the two countries has remained strong with about 35 Indian companies in the country and they are not moving away from the traditional areas of cooperation but diversifying into new areas including information technology, artificial intelligence with scientific development, solar energy among others. 

Balasubramanian, who had earlier read the Indian President's message to the nation, stressed that his country will continue to cooperate with Nigeria in finding solutions to the insecurity in the country as the business between them has since after COVID-19 lock down, increased on both sides with India importing about ten billion dollars worth of oil from Nigeria. 

The Independence celebration saw India children and their parents thrilling the audience with their various musical and dance displays.
