 LASG HOSTS Y2024 WOMEN'S ASSEMBLY TO EMPOWER, CELEBRATE WOMEN Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to advancing and empowering women, describing them as the pillars of communities, contributing in numerous ways as mothers, entrepreneurs, educators and leaders.  Governor Sanwo-Olu stated this in his keynote address at the 2024 Women's Assembly for Local Government and Local Council Development Areas organised by the Ministry of Women's Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) at the De Blue Roof, LTV 8 complex, Agindigbi Ikeja.  The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Governor, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, described the Assembly as a critical platform for celebrating women’s contributions and tackling challenges affecting their well-being. 'CHURCH' WOMEN SPOTTED RELAXING WITH BEER AT DRINKING JOINT IN BENUE



The photo has generated mixed reactions on Facebook, with some criticising the poster and the women for drinking alcohol while wearing 'church uniform'.

A Facebook user identified as Lubem Terkula posted a photo of some women spotted drinking beer at a joint in Benue State.

It was gathered that the women are members of a Christian women's organisation in the state.

The photo has generated mixed reactions on Facebook, with some criticising the poster and the women for drinking alcohol while wearing 'church uniform'.

"Nobody stop them to drink but at least they should have respect the uniform they are putting on," one Uba Shima wrote. "That uniform is meant for church activities not beer parlour activities," he added.

"It's wrong posting those women here i dont just know what you are turning into. Is it wrong for them to have a relax time at your place,if eventually their husband nor people of same Organization saw this,do you no the damages that will caused thereafter. Don't be doing something like one who doesnt reason,"

Another Facebook user said: "Even those who forbids it still take it, just drink responsibly. Take one or two is okay."

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
