 TEAM LAGOS EMERGES TOP AT 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL SOUTH WEST ELIMINATION Lagos State athletes proved their dominance in the South West by edging out regional competitors and emerging top in the five team events contested at the elimination series qualifier for the 23rd National Sports Festival later this year in Enugu. The elimination series featured team events in volleyball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and cricket in male and female categories. While the team clinched only the female football ticket by topping their group, they showed dominance in three other sports by winning both the male and female tickets. Team Lagos took first position in the volleyball male and female categories. The male team defeated their counterparts from Ondo in the finals by 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-20, while the female team defeated Team Oyo by 25-18, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-8. Dubai Police fines 4697 Motorists, seizes 132 Vehicles for Violating Traffic Laws during the UAE's 51st National Day Celebrations
The Dubai Police has impounded 132 vehicles and fined their motorists for violating traffic rules during the UAE's 51st National Day celebrations.
 
Black points were also imposed against the violators who caused disturbance, modified their vehicles' colour, covered their vehicles with stickers without a permit, littered from their cars, and posed danger to themselves and others by driving recklessly.
 
Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Acting Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, said that the traffic patrols fined 4,697 motorists and impounded 72 vehicles in Bur Dubai and 60 others in Deira for violating traffic rules and regulations during the UAE's 51st National Day 3-day celebrations
 
Brig. Bin Suwaidan pointed out that most of the violations were recorded in Bur Dubai area, explaining that the General Department of Traffic had had intensified traffic patrols across various internal and external areas of the emirate to prevent traffic jams, control negative behaviours of some drivers, and maintain road safety specially during this dear national holiday.
 
He also revealed that this year witnessed a significant improvement in the traffic situation during the National Day celebrations, indicating the excellent cooperation of road users with police personnel.
