 STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE   ENGINEERS FAROUK AHMED, GBENGA KOMOLAFE RESIGN, PRESIDENT TINUBU NOMINATES SUCCESSORS TO THE SENATE FOR APPROVAL President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve the nominations of two new chief executives for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).   The requests followed the resignation of Engineer Farouk Ahmed of the NMDPRA and Gbenga Komolafe of the NUPRC. Both officials were appointed in 2021 by former President Buhari to lead the two regulatory agencies created by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).   To fill these positions, President Tinubu has written to the Senate, requesting expedited confirmation of Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as CEO of NUPRC and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as CEO of NMDPRA.   The two nominees are seasoned professionals in the oil and gas industry.   Eyesan, a graduate of Economics f...

POLICE NAB SUSPECT IN MORATA.

A young woman travelling in a PMV from Waigani to Morata was robbed inside the bus, but fortunately police intervened and caught the suspect within a few minutes.

 The victim from Southern Highlands Province said, the suspect was travelling inside the same PMV and observed her, before committing the crime.

As the PMV decelerated and came to a stop at Morata, he snatched the phone from the victim and fled. 

The brave victim however, hopped out of the bus and chased after the fleeing suspect.

A police officer who was driving past saw the commotion and alerted the police operations centre through the Constabulary's radio communication network.

A few minutes later, the suspect was arrested by Sector Patrol Fox unit 204 near the community hall in Morata.

They heard the incident report over the police radio and immediately responded.

The stolen phone was also recovered from the suspect and returned to the victim.

The victim who appeared distressed and angry, later expressed gratitude for the quick police response resulting in the arrest and recovery.

The suspect was detained at the Waigani Police Station and is facing appropriate charges.
