 LASG HOSTS Y2024 WOMEN'S ASSEMBLY TO EMPOWER, CELEBRATE WOMEN Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to advancing and empowering women, describing them as the pillars of communities, contributing in numerous ways as mothers, entrepreneurs, educators and leaders.  Governor Sanwo-Olu stated this in his keynote address at the 2024 Women's Assembly for Local Government and Local Council Development Areas organised by the Ministry of Women's Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) at the De Blue Roof, LTV 8 complex, Agindigbi Ikeja.  The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Governor, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, described the Assembly as a critical platform for celebrating women’s contributions and tackling challenges affecting their well-being. Miss Maryann Sylvester Wins Maiden Edition Of Amaokpala Beauty Pageant 2023



Miss Maryann Sylvester of Amaokwe village Amaokpala, in Orumba North Local Government Area, has been crowned Ada Amaokpala at the maiden edition of Amaokpala Beauty Pageant 2023.

Miss Sylvester received the prize sum of 200,000 Naira after she beat other 10 contestants from the five villages in the community. 

The event was a show of elegance, intelligence, inventiveness, and refinement. 

According to the organizers, it is intended to empower females in the community and to build confidence and vibrancy among them.

The event was sponsored by Amaokpala in Diaspora in view of uniting, strengthening, improving social and mental wellbeing of the community members.

The contest which lasted for hours saw Miss Ifunanya Molokwu of Ajango village as first runner up and Miss Chigozie Nwafor of Umudike village as the second runner up, as the duo got 100,000 and 50,000 naira respectively, while others received consolation prizes.

In her remark, Miss Sylvester, who could not contain her joy when she was announced the winner, expressed overwhelming gratitude to the organizers of Amaokpala Beauty Pageant 2023, her family, fellow contestants for playing a vital role in making her dreams come true, assuring to use her office to train and inspire young ladies in the community.
