 Terrorists, banditry activities in Northwest have reduced – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has disclosed a decrease in the activities of terrorists and bandits in the Northwest. Sani said the recent killings of some top terrorists’ leaders could have been responsible for the decrease. Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “In the last few weeks, there is a noticeable decrease in terrorist and banditry attacks and kidnappings in the North Western parts of this country. “The elimination of some of the top terrorist leaders must have been responsible.This is commendable and should be sustained.” In the past weeks, notable bandit leaders have been killed in the North. Those eliminated include- Haliru Kachalla Sububu or Buzu, Kachalla Tukur Sharme (killed by rival gang), Sani Black, another prominent bandit leader, killed along with his brother and two children, Kachalla Makore, Kachalla Mai Shayi Kachalla Tsoho Lulu and Mai’Yar Gitta.  *Ekwunife Condemns Gruesome Killing of President General of Obosi Community*


---Calls for Investigations Into Cult-Related Killings In Okpuno, and Ifite Awka.


The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Uche Ekwunife, PhD, has condemned in its strongest terms the gruesome killing of the President General of Obosi Community, Hon. Sir Ike Okolo at a petrol station by gunmen, on January 2, 2023.


Ekwunife expressed sadness over the death of the President General, describing it as a cruel act that should not go unpunished. She noted that Anambra is a peaceful and prosperous state and mindless killing of its citizens is not the dreams of the founding fathers.


The federal lawmaker urged security agencies to thoroughly unravel the circumstances leading to the killing and ensure that the law takes its full course on the perpetrators. Ekwunife further condemned the cult-related killings among rival groups in Okpuno and Ifite Awka both in Awka South local government area of the state.


The Chairman Senate Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation commiserated the entire Obosi, Okpuno and Awka communities over the incidents, and prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of those who lost their lives.
