 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

 ROLE OF THE NIGERIAN ARMY CRUCIAL IN THE CONDUCT OF THE 2023 GENERAL ELECTION - GEN AKINJOBI  



The Chief of Operations Army, Major General Olufemi Akinjobi has reiterated  the crucial role of the Nigerian Army in the successful conduct of the 2023 general election.                 

General Akinjobi stated this during a sensitisation lecture on Operation Safe Conduct 2023 to Commanders of 2 Division in Ibadan today 3rd February 2023 with the theme " Introspection of Past Experiences and Efforts at Improving Nigerian Army Support to Operation Safe Conduct 2023". 


The Chief of Operations Army, while cautioning the personnel  to remain apolitical, pointed out that, though every election comes with its challenges, the Nigerian Army must be ready to face the challenge of anything that could jeopardize the process. He enjoined the various commanders to increase their collaboration with stakeholders for a successful conduct of the elections. 


Gen Akinjobin tasked commanders to conduct exercises and operations to place formations in appropriate mode, as well as ensure adequate sensitisation of troops on the Code of Conduct and Rules of Engagement during Operation Safe Conduct 2023. 


In his remarks, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Mohammed Usman charged the various commanders to ensure a free and conducive environment for the electorates to cast their votes in the forthcoming elections without any hindrance. He implored the Commanders to fashion out a workable strategy in the proper identification of security personnel on election duties in their Area of Responsibilities. The sensitisation lecture was well attended by all formations and unit commanders in 2 Division Area of Responsibility.
