 2027: BENUE GOVT TELLS APPOINTEES, DECLARE NOW OR STEP ASIDE 17th December, 2025   The Benue State Government has directed all political appointees seeking to contest elective offices to formally declare their intentions and tender their resignation letters. In a statement issued from the Office of the Deputy Governor, the directive follows the surge in political activities and growing expressions of interest in elective positions across the state. According to the notice, affected appointees are required to submit written expressions of interest for their preferred offices, alongside formal resignation letters, to the Office of the Deputy Governor on or before Thursday, December 18, 2025. The submissions will be transmitted to Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia for further consideration and necessary action. Dreaded cultist ‘Cross and Die’ arrested in Rivers Community

A suspected cultist has been arrested by the Police for terrorising residents in Egbeda Community, in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.


Africa Update gathered that the cultist, identified simply as ‘Cross and Die’, was arrested on Wednesday by operatives of the Rivers State Police Command following credible intelligence and had been detained at the Egbeda Police Division.


Speaking on the incident, the President of Ubimini Youth Council, Ikechukwu Wordu, who confirmed the arrest of the cultist, urged members of the community to remain calm.


Wordu said, “He ‘Cross and Die’ is in the custody of the Egbeda Divisional Police Headquarters. I am calling on the Inspector-General of Police, state Commissioner of Police, to make sure they interrogate him very well.


“Let him provide the pump action gun and he will also mention the names of members of his gang in my community. My advice is that the youth should remain calm and nobody should cause any disturbance again in the community.”
