 STAEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE   PRESIDENT TINUBU: WE WILL CONTINUE TO SUSTAIN BUHARI'S LEGACIES.   President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Monday in Abuja, stated that his administration will continue to honour former President Muhammadu Buhari by sustaining his legacies of purposeful leadership, discipline, integrity, and the belief that public office is a trust, not a windfall.   President Tinubu made this commitment at the State House Conference Centre during the unveiling and public presentation of the book, *From Soldier to Statesman – The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari*, authored by Dr Charles Omole.   He said the book offers Nigerians the opportunity to learn from President Buhari, and affirmed that the greatest honour to bestow on the late President is to sustain his legacies.   "This book reinforces the public memory. Newly-elected House of Reps Member dies in Abuja

A newly-elected member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Ismaila Yushau Maihanci, has died.

Maihanci, who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to represent Jalingo, Yorro, Zing Federal Constituency of Taraba State, died early this Saturday morning, April 22, 2023, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. His janaza (funeral prayer) is scheduled to hold at the National Mosque in Abuja after today’s noon prayers.

A statement made available to newsmen the Taraba State PDP spokesperson, Andeta’rang Irammae, said Maihanci, 37, fell sick shortly after the February 25 election and had been receiving medical treatment in Abuja.

He described Maihanci’s death as a rude shock to the PDP, saying that the deceased would be missed by the party and the people of the state at large.

Reacting to the sad development, the acting chairman of the party, Abubakar Bawa, described the death as a big blow to the PDP family in the state and the country at large.

Maihanci’s death came barely five weeks to his inauguration as a member of the National Assembly.

The October 22, 1986 Maihanci was a businessman and politician who prior to his election served as a Special Adviser to Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku. He had also served as the Secretary of PDP in Taraba State.

He is survived by a wife Fatiha Sangari and a son.
