Kebbi Govt Donates 10 Hilux Vehicles to Boost Security on Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway  The Kebbi State Government has handed over 10 brand-new Hilux vehicles to the Federal Ministry of Works to strengthen security for personnel working on the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway project. The vehicles were formally received by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, who praised Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasiru Idris (Kauran Gwandu), for the donation. Goronyo described the gesture as a clear demonstration of the state government’s commitment to protecting workers and contractors on the strategic highway corridor. He explained that the vehicles will be deployed exclusively to security operatives providing cover for construction teams along the section of the super highway passing through Kebbi State. The Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway is a multi-state infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity and economic activities across northern and southern Nigeria. More...

Nurse dies performing liposuction

1 April 2023

A Mexican woman passed away while performing liposuction after self-administered anesthesia.

The 30-year-old Carina reportedly died at the clinic, a south-central facility in Mexico called Clinica Amper where she worked as a nurse.

According to Carina’s employer and owner of the clinic, Dr. Rolando Samper Mendoza, the victim performed the surgery ‘without his authorization and permission’ in his absence.

“One of my nurses named Carina decided on her own to perform abdominal liposuction with a local anesthetic. The result of this incomprehensible action was that she died as a result of the massive absorption of anesthetic that she administered herself,” he said.

After being found unconscious by a fellow employee, Carina’s official cause of death was listed as cardiorespiratory arrest: when a person suddenly stops breathing and their heart fails.

She’d been trying to perform liposuction on her stomach when the situation went skewed.

Paramedics were immediately called to the scene as they tried did all they could to revive the nurse but to no avail.

The outlet suggested the victim was not professionally trained to deal with administering anesthesia.
