 STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE   ENGINEERS FAROUK AHMED, GBENGA KOMOLAFE RESIGN, PRESIDENT TINUBU NOMINATES SUCCESSORS TO THE SENATE FOR APPROVAL President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve the nominations of two new chief executives for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).   The requests followed the resignation of Engineer Farouk Ahmed of the NMDPRA and Gbenga Komolafe of the NUPRC. Both officials were appointed in 2021 by former President Buhari to lead the two regulatory agencies created by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).   To fill these positions, President Tinubu has written to the Senate, requesting expedited confirmation of Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as CEO of NUPRC and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as CEO of NMDPRA.   The two nominees are seasoned professionals in the oil and gas industry.   Eyesan, a graduate of Economics f...

PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI TO DECLARE OPEN, AFRICAN STUDENT AND  YOUTH SUMMIT IN ABUJA


President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to declare open the 2023 Commonwealth Youth and Students Summit,  African Region in Abuja tomorrow, Tuesday 9th May, 2023, following his approval of Nigeria to host the Summit. 

The Honourable Minister of Sports and Youth Development,  Mr Sunday Dare, in his Office in Abuja today, stated that the Summit is jointly organized by the Youth Division of the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Commonwealth Youth Programme, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development of Nigeria. 

He stated that the Summit is an international forum  where young people interact with Heads of Government and make direct inputs into their commitment towards the development of the youth of their countries.

Dare therefore called on the youth to remain focused so as to derive maximum benefits from the Summit with a view to contributing positively to the socio-economic development of the African Region.

The Minister informed further that a total of about 5000 young people from 21 African Countries within the Commonwealth as well as Five (5) Heads of Government, Eleven (11) Ministers of Youth from selected African countries, and other notable leaders are expected at the Summit.
