 M23 says hundreds of Burundi soldiers captured in latest Congo offensive The Rwanda-backed M23 group has captured hundreds of Burundian soldiers during its latest offensive in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a rebel official said, as clashes continued despite a warning from the Trump administration. Last week M23 entered the strategic town of Uvira near the border with Burundi, less than a week after the presidents of Congo and Rwanda met in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and affirmed their commitment to a peace deal known as the Washington Accords. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Rwanda's actions in eastern Congo violated the Washington Accords and vowed to "take action to ensure promises made to the President are kept". Rwanda denies supporting M23 and has blamed Congolese and Burundian forces for the renewed fighting. THE BATCH THREE IMO STATE PILGRIMS BEGINS ACTIVITIES TODAY WITH A TRIP TO THE JACOB RIVER AND GEDARA


The third batch of Imo State Pilgrims, who arrived Jordan in the early hours of 28th May, 2023, have began their pilgrimage journey today, as they visited the Jacob River in the northern part of Jordan. The Imolites got the opportunity to not only see but, experience where Jacob and his brother Esau made peace as recorded in Genesis Chapter 33-35.

The pilgrims also visited um Qais in Gedera were ruins of the ancient Roman empire are left including prisons, market places and a thearter where the Roman kings passed judgments on offenders. Gedera is also connected to one of Jesus's miracle where he casted demons who tried to speak to him into a swine of pigs.

Their trip for the day ended at Mar Elias in tishbi the birth place of prophet elijah. The pilgrims got to experience the first church which was built where prophet Elijah called down fire to signify that his God was mighteir than the gods of bal.

The pilgrims also got to see the remains of the mosiac floors used to build the early churches. They took time to sing praises offer prayers for themselves and the state, while also dropping their prayers and pettions at the different  significant sites. 

They did not fail to shower praises on His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma who made it possible  for them to visit these sites.
