 Terrorists, banditry activities in Northwest have reduced – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has disclosed a decrease in the activities of terrorists and bandits in the Northwest. Sani said the recent killings of some top terrorists’ leaders could have been responsible for the decrease. Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “In the last few weeks, there is a noticeable decrease in terrorist and banditry attacks and kidnappings in the North Western parts of this country. “The elimination of some of the top terrorist leaders must have been responsible.This is commendable and should be sustained.” In the past weeks, notable bandit leaders have been killed in the North. Those eliminated include- Haliru Kachalla Sububu or Buzu, Kachalla Tukur Sharme (killed by rival gang), Sani Black, another prominent bandit leader, killed along with his brother and two children, Kachalla Makore, Kachalla Mai Shayi Kachalla Tsoho Lulu and Mai’Yar Gitta. Two Policemen Killed As Gunmen Attack Another Checkpoint In Imo

Unidentified gunmen have again attacked a police checkpoint located at Okpala Junction along Owerri/Aba Road, Ngor Okpala council area of Imo State one month after they killed five policemen and husband and wife at the same junction.

The incident, which happened early hours of today, Saturday 20th May 2023, left two policemen dead and many others injured, our correspondent gathered.

An eyewitness who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the gunmen came in numbers and opened fire on the police officers who were on road-block morning stop-and-search duty.

A traveler who passed through the road confirmed to our correspondent that two police officers were killed while he saw one who was injured.

He said; “I saw the liveless body while coming to work this morning. Two killed and one injured inside police van”.

As of the time of filing this report, teams of policemen were drafted to the area

Efforts to speak with the police spokesperson in Imo State command, Henry Okoye, to confirm the incident proofed abortive as of the time of filing this report.

Also, text messages sent to his known phone number were not responded to.
