 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. Anambra State Polytechnic Mgbakwu Matriculates New Students



New matriculants of Anambra State Polytechnic, Mgbakwu in Awka North Local Government Area, have been implored to be helpful to themselves, families and society by studying well and acquiring necessary skills and knowledge  in their academic journey in the institution.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo gave the advice during the sixth and seventh matriculation ceremony of the polytechnic for 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic sessions.

The 2021/2022 matriculation ceremony could not hold due to administration transition, hence was merged with the 2022/2023 academic session.

Governor Soludo represented by the Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, told the students that their future lies in their hands and that life is about choice, adding that it behooves on them to make decisions that will make them progressive in life.

Governor Soludo congratulated the students for choosing to study at the state polytechnic, which he described as skilled based institution, warning them to shun truancy and study hard to become employers of labour.

He urged the staff of the polytechnic to continue to support his administration and eschew bitterness and rancour, and work with unity of purpose among themselves.

In her address, the Acting Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Njideka Chiekezie, commended the students for their wise decision to study at the polytechnic and urged them to abide by all rules and regulations of the institution and participate in all activities geared towards their holistic training. 

Dr. Chiekezie said the major challenge of polytechnic is the delay in the approval for Higher National Diploma Programme, reiterated the polytechnic's commitment to impact necessary skills on the new students. 
 
She thanked Governor Soludo for his commitment towards strengthening education sector in the state.

Some of the new students, Mr. Micheal Ogochukwu of Agricultural Department and Miss Maureen Ngene of Science Laboratory Technology Department, said they were elated on the occassion and promised to work hard for posterity.
