 M23 says hundreds of Burundi soldiers captured in latest Congo offensive The Rwanda-backed M23 group has captured hundreds of Burundian soldiers during its latest offensive in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a rebel official said, as clashes continued despite a warning from the Trump administration. Last week M23 entered the strategic town of Uvira near the border with Burundi, less than a week after the presidents of Congo and Rwanda met in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and affirmed their commitment to a peace deal known as the Washington Accords. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Rwanda's actions in eastern Congo violated the Washington Accords and vowed to "take action to ensure promises made to the President are kept". Rwanda denies supporting M23 and has blamed Congolese and Burundian forces for the renewed fighting. COURT REMANDS TOCHI EPHRAIM (TOMPA),TWO OTHERS TO PRISON FOR FELONY. (PHOTOS).

Court remands Tochi Ephraim(TOMPA),two others to Prison.

A magistrate Court sitting in Umuahia North Magisterial District has remanded a Revenue contractor Mr Tochi Ephraim popularly known as TOMPA to prison over allegations of felony.

Tochi alongside Chibuzor Ihemelandu and Nwazue Azubuike were arraigned on five count charge before a magistrate court in Umuahia.

“That You Tochi Ephraim, Chibuzor Ihemelandu, Nwazue Azubuike and others now at large on or about the 21st of June 2023 at the Osisioma Head bridge, Osisioma Magistrate District, conspired amongst yourselves to commit felony to with: Assault occasioning Harm/ Malicious damage and thereby committer an offence punishable under section 516A (a) Of the Criminal Code Cap 80 Vol. 3, laws of Abia State 2005.” The first count had read.

PUO Reports that Tochi who was arrested last week was released by the police after the Governor of Abia State Dr Alex Otti allegedly intervened as reported by his friends.

The court declined his bail application and adjourned the matter to 19th Day of July 2023.
