 The Defence Headquarters says troops eliminated over 100 terrorists, arrested 345 terrorists, and rescued 393 kidnapped victims in the month of July. The Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, stated this during the monthly Defence Media Operations briefing at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja. Major General Onoja added that during the period under review, 57 terrorists surrendered, over 1,000 arms and assorted ammunition were recovered, 18 illegal refining sites were destroyed, while 250,500 litres of stolen crude oil and refined petroleum products were recovered. Speaking further, Major General Onoja, on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, reaffirmed the Armed Forces' commitment to the protection of lives and property nationwide, and their resolve to ensure that kidnapping, terrorism, secessionist agitation, and other forms of criminality are purged from society.

7-MONTH-OLD BABY FOUND ALIVE ON MOTHER'S BACK 24HRS AFTER BANDITS K!LLED HER AND FIVE OTHERS IN NIGER STATE



A seven-month-old baby boy named Habibu was found sleeping on his mother’s back 24 hours after she was shot dead by bandits on the Pandogari-Allawa road in Shiroro Local Government Area of of Niger State.

It was gathered that bandits blocked the Pandogari-Allawa road a day to Sallah and shot six passengers, including an SS 2 student of the Maryam Babangida Girls’ Science College, Minna, Hauwa Aliyu, and the mother of the baby to death.

The President of Lakpma Youth Assembly, Jibril Allawa, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust. 

“Miraculously, the baby was one of the survivors of the attack in which six people were killed. Vigilantes who went the following day to evacuate the remains of the victims found the baby sleeping on his d£ad mother’s back," Allawa said. 

“The incident happened on June 27, and six people lost their lives. Maryam called and informed us that she was coming home for the Sallah. We told her to stay back in school and celebrate the Sallah there but she insisted that she wanted to come home and celebrate with us.” 

One Abubakar Ismail, a 16-year-old, who sustained gunsh0t injuries on his chest, managed to run some distance before he was rescued and is now receiving treatment in a hospital.
