Abia: Expose criminals in your domains – Otti charges traditional rulers

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has charged traditional rulers in the state to assist his administration in ensuring a peaceful Abia.

He gave the directive on Tuesday at Government House, Umuahia, during a meeting he held with principal officers of traditional rulers’ council and executive members of the traditional rulers from the 17 LGAs of the state.

He made it clear that the new administration in Abia has zero tolerance for insecurity, pointing out that the state government would be tough on criminals and those who support them for whatever reason.

Otti also cautioned that any monarch whose domains are used as hideouts for criminals would be dealt with.

His words: “Silence in the face of iniquity is also a crime in itself.

So, when you see something wrong going on in your community and you look away, that means you are supporting what is going wrong.

“The new and improved Abia can not be achieved without major inputs from stakeholders like you, our respected royal fathers.”

The Abia governor emphasized that development can only take place when and where concerted efforts are made to ensure the security of lives and property.

“Our state must remain crime free so that our people will go about their businesses with peace of mind and that is exactly where you come in,” said Otti.

He assured the royal fathers that their good counsels would be needful in governing the state, describing them as strategic partners.
