 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. ACTDA Begins Construction Of Internal Roads In Building Material Market, Umuokpu Awka



Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) has commenced the construction of internal roads within Umuokpu Awka Building Materials Market. 

According to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Agency, Mr Ossy Onuko, the idea of regenerating the Umuokpu Market is to create an enabling environment for traders in that line of business, and in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo's directive that all building material traders should relocate to the market designated for such trade. 

According to Mr. Onuko, Ndi Anambra can't have a Capital City that they dream and yearn for, with the current disorganization in the city. 

He pointed out that to sanitise the system, indiscriminate siting of building material shops across the town must stop, and that when they make the Umuokpu Building Materials market conducive, government will therefore move all the building material traders in the city to the market. 

The ACTDA Managing Director appealed to the Building Materials market traders to ensure they take ownership of every government infrastructure or facility in the market as it costs the government huge sums of money to build or provide them.
