 Senate confirms Fani-Kayode, Reno Omokri, 62 others as ambassadors The Senate on Thursday confirmed 64 ambassadorial nominees of President Bola Tinubu, including a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, and a former presidential aide, Reno Omokri. The confirmation followed the consideration and adoption of a report by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, which said all the nominees were screened and found suitable for appointment. The exercise came 48 hours after the upper chamber confirmed three non-career ambassadorial nominees — Lateef Kayode Are (Ogun State), Aminu Dalhatu (Jigawa State), and Emmanuel Ayodele Oke (Oyo State)—bringing the total number of confirmed ambassadors to 67. Among those cleared on Thursday were a former Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau; a former Special Adviser on New Media to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri; a former presidential aide, Ita Enang; and a former senator, Grace Bent. State Government Intervenes on Oba Landslide

Anambra State Government has intervened to rescue the gully erosion that has eaten up a lane of Onitsha - Owerri road (Oba section).

The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma who visited the site said that the State Government is moving immediately to arrest the situation and prevent further devastation.

According to Mr. Commissioner, " We have a very urgent, critical and emergency situation as the road is about to be cut into two. 

"The road belongs to the Federal Government, but if we leave it like that, there would be lost of life and properties of Ndi Anambra, and so, Mr. Governor directed immediate arrest of the situation while we wait for the Federal Government".

Engr. Okoma said that without further delay, the State Government has engaged a service provider, Tamad Construction Company to move in immediately and bring the situation under control.

On his part, the Director of Tamad Construction Company, Engr. Toni Mardi assured that they are doing everything possible to contain the erosion in order to avert further landline.

Lamenting the menace, a resident of Vision World Estate, Oba, Mr. Ikenna Ajulufo, recounted the untold hardship the erosion brought to them as they are at risk of loosing their lives and properties. 

He said that they heaved a sign of relief when they saw heavy duty construction equipment arriving in droves, commending the State Government for the quick response. (MOI).
