 More than 100,000 children have been displaced by the latest escalation in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, UNICEF said on Sunday, warning the numbers are expected to rise as violence spreads. Since Dec. 1, intense fighting has uprooted more than 500,000 people, with children accounting for over 100,000 of those displaced in South Kivu alone, the UN agency said in a statement released Sunday. It said since Dec. 2, hundreds have been killed in the fighting, and children have been among the victims, with four students killed, six injured, and at least seven schools attacked or damaged. The rapid escalation has forced hundreds of thousands of children and families to flee within Congo and into neighboring Burundi and Rwanda, it added. Davido rewards content creator with N2m

Afrobeats megastar, Davido has ‘blessed’ a content creator with N2 million for her ingenious work that made him laugh.

The lady, identified as Okoli Classic, made a video which caught the attention of popular blogger Tunde Ednut and he decided to reshare it on his Instagram page.

The video captured Okoli’s craving fried rice at night but didn’t have enough money so she settled for cassava granules (better known as garri). She bought other items like sachet water, milk, sugar, biscuits and apple.

She set down to prepare her meal informing the viewers she was about to have her plate of fried rice and eventually did justice to it with much gusto.

Apparently, Davido was moved by her content and so he reached out to Tunde Ednut to get the girl’s details so that he could appreciate her craft because according to the blogger, ‘it entertained him.’

At first they couldn’t reach Okoli but when they finally did, she explained her phone malfunctioned.

She was full of praises and prayers for Davido and the blogger who made it possible for her content to be viewed by the DMW boss.
