 Terrorists, banditry activities in Northwest have reduced – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has disclosed a decrease in the activities of terrorists and bandits in the Northwest. Sani said the recent killings of some top terrorists’ leaders could have been responsible for the decrease. Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “In the last few weeks, there is a noticeable decrease in terrorist and banditry attacks and kidnappings in the North Western parts of this country. “The elimination of some of the top terrorist leaders must have been responsible.This is commendable and should be sustained.” In the past weeks, notable bandit leaders have been killed in the North. Those eliminated include- Haliru Kachalla Sububu or Buzu, Kachalla Tukur Sharme (killed by rival gang), Sani Black, another prominent bandit leader, killed along with his brother and two children, Kachalla Makore, Kachalla Mai Shayi Kachalla Tsoho Lulu and Mai’Yar Gitta. Kwara: NEMA Distributes Relief Materials To Flood Victims 

National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has commenced the distribution of relief materials to the victims of 2022 flood in Kwara State.

Speaking at the Flagged off of the distribution of the Items in Ilorin, the Director General of NEMA, Mustapha Ahmed who was represented by Mr Ephraim Tony, head of Monitoring and Evaluation at the agency, said federal government approved the intervention specifically for people affected by the 2022 flood disasters.

He said those classified as the most vulnerable persons across the country would also benefit from the items.

Ahmed explained that the 2022 flood disaster devastated many communities across the country, including Kwara State, where most of the people in the communities were displaced and their farmlands and crops completely washed away by water.

He said based on the assessments which were jointly conducted by NEMA and State Emergency Management Agencies (SEMAs), the federal government approved this special intervention to assist vulnerable persons across the country and those affected by the flood to support their quick return to normalcy. 

Ahmed noted that the intervention is also expected to drive the sustainable socio-economic resilience of the targeted most vulnerable individuals. 

He said a total of over six hundred and sixty thousand ( 660,884) Households were verified and targeted to benefit from this special intervention across the 36 states and Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The NEMA boss advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items distributed to them to improve their socio-economic conditions. 

In his address Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq , represented by his deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi,commended the effort of the federal government through NEMA for the timely intervention' . 

AbdulRazaq reiterated the commitment of this administration towards supporting all programmes that would be directed towards alleviating the socio-economic hardship of the people of the state.

Items distributed to the beneficiaries included , agriculture Inputs,food items sewing machines, Grinding Machine and mattresses.
