 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. DSS Raises Alarm Over Plot To Hijack NLC Protest

With less than 24-hours to the planned peaceful protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), the Department of State Services (DSS) has raised alarm over alleged plots by some persons to stage violent protest to discredit the efforts of the federal government and security agencies.

On its X handle, the DSS said it has identified some politicians who are mobilising unsuspecting student leaders, youths and faith-based organisations for their violent actions.

The DSS has therefore warned the alleged plotters to desist or face the consequences of their actions.

The NLC had embarked in August this year embarked on a nationwide protest over the removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government.

During that period, the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun has ordered watertight security strategy across the country following the planned protest by the Organised Labour on Wednesday.

IGP Egbetokun also directed Commissioners of Police across all commands and supervisory Assistant Inspectors-General of Police to reach an agreement with the Union to ensure the protest is not hijacked my miscreants.
