 Avery the Poke Kid, 12-year-old social media star, dies 7 years after pancreatic cancer diagnosis Avery, known online as “Avery the Poke Kid,” has passed away at age 12 after a long battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. His parents, Christian Garcia and Rebecca Rosa-Valentin, shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram, explaining that although Avery had recently entered hospice care, they believed they still had more time with him.  They described spending his final moments together in a hospital rooftop garden, holding him close as he took his last breath. Mohbad: Senate mulls new commission to resolve artiste-manager disputes – Abbo

The Senator representing Adamawa State North Senatorial District, Ishaku Abbo, has said plans are underway to establish a commission that sees to dispute resolution between record labels and their signees.

Abbo, who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Creative Economy, said this on Thursday in Lekki, Lagos State, when he paid a condolence visit to the residence of Mrs Adebose Olumuyi, the mother of late Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad.

The PUNCH Metro reports that the circumstances leading to the death of Mohbad who died last week at the age of 27, is yet to be unraveled and ascertained.

Speaking further, Abbo said that the senate, in collaboration with the Ministry of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy, will see to the creation of the commission.

He said, “I have received petitions from Nigerians calling for either a creative economy or entertainment economy commission where disputes that arise between record labels and their signees would be settled.”

He added that the creation of the commission will help to ensure that no one takes the law into their hands between record labels and their signees.

“When we have this commission, nobody will start taking things into their own hands. But this doesn’t exist now in this country and I am assuring you that the Senate of the 10th assembly, in collaboration with the minister for creative economy, will come up with a commission called creative economy commission,” he announced.

According to him, “The Senate just passed a bill and it has scaled third reading. We have also done a public hearing about setting up a fund for victims of such incidences where the families can benefit like the EndSARS victims and other victims of violence.

“The FG is interested in setting up the fund. The creative industry is a very big one. It is a multi-billion economy and I am sure the current administration will ensure that the sector has a conducive atmosphere.”
